Applying the Quiétude Attitude to
my activity

The interactive map below will help you accurately locate the designated wildlife quiet areas.

Be warned! Some of them are subject to stringent regulations!

To avoid being unpleasantly surprised, read through them before planning your outing.

And, once on site, always consult the signs and comply with the regulations they set out.

Protected areas

The Natura 2000 ecological network aims to preserve species and natural environments that are rare or endangered throughout Europe.
It includes special protection areas (SPAs) protecting species from the Birds Directive. It is also composed of special areas of conservation (SAC) with the objective of preserving habitats and species of the Habitats Directive.
The Park has 34 sites with a total area of 68,872 ha, or 24% of its territory.

Nature reserves

Nature reserves

The initiative of the classification in Natural reserve can return:

  • to the State: National Nature Reserves,
  • or Regions: Regional Nature Reserves.

Beyond these differences in administrative status, the Nature Reserves share common objectives and elements: a territory, a regulation and a management body.
They pursue three inseparable missions: protecting natural environments, species and geological heritage, managing sites and raising public awareness.
The Park has 5 National Nature Reserves and 5 Regional Nature Reserves, for a total area of 5,500 ha, or 1.8% of its territory.

The biotope protection zones are set up under the authority of the Prefect by a prefectural decree and are intended to preserve the habitats of the animal and plant species protected by law. The Prefectural Biotope Protection Order (APPB) lists the prohibited activities and regulated activities necessary to protect the habitats of the target species.
15 of the 20 biotope protection zones set up on the Park’s territory make it possible to enhance tranquility in the most sensitive areas. They represent 6,985 ha, or 2.4% in the Park’s territory.

Biological reserves

Biological reserves

The biological reserves are set up in the public forests under the authority of the ministers in charge of agriculture and ecology by interministerial decree. There are two types of biological reserves: “Integral” reserves (RBI) in which logging is prohibited to preserve the natural character of a forest and so-called “managed reserves” (RBD) where silvicultural interventions are possible but mainly oriented towards the conservation of forest biodiversity.
15 biological reserves have been set up at the Park level. Two of them regulate human activities to preserve the tranquility of wildlife. They represent 4,354 ha, or 1.5% of the Park’s territory.
